Mint Wins Media Tenor´s Best Business Media Award

Award honours diverse, informative, and balanced business news coverage

Lucerne. November 1, 2012. India´s Mint was recognized today for the quality its business news coverage at an awards ceremony at Media Tenor´s 13th International Agenda Setting Conference.

The Best Business Media Award recognizes the business publication that is most able to provide diverse, informative, and balance business news coverage. For the period May 1, 2012 – September 30, 2012, 63,903 statements from financial analysts quoted in international financial media were analyzed according to seven criteria.

The seven examined categories were: analyst source diversity; topic diversity; balance of past, present and future coverage; coverage not focused on price movements; coverage of currency markets; coverage of bond markets; coverage of geographic diversity.

Mint claimed this year´s award thanks to strong performances in topic and analyst diversity. The publication also excelled in its coverage of the currency market, and offered in-depth coverage beyond price movements.

Additionally, The Financial Times was named the first runner-up thanks to its strong awareness of geographic diversity in its coverage and additional strength in topic and analyst diversity.

Handelsblatt was named the second runner-up for its coverage of the bond and currency markets and a balance of past, present, and future coverage that offered useful background information, current news, and informed predictions.

For over 19 years Media Tenor´s mission has been to contribute to objective, diverse and newsworthy news by bringing together the diverse parties who both impact and are affected by the news. Media Tenor´s global research projects include analyses of election campaigns, investor relations, public diplomacy, corporate communications and other topics critical to news makers and news audiences. The annual Agenda Setting Conference brings together these diverse constituencies for data-driven workshops, panels, case studies and keynote speeches.
