Deepwater Blowup Sinks Obama

Obama´s “victory” in the healthcare struggle did not stop the downward trend in his approval ratings: The renewed criticism of his handling of the BP oil spill depressed his standing in public opinion even more – reaching a new low in July.

Deepwater is not Obama´s Katrina

Health care: Obama media comeback

Obama´s media rating has sky rocketed on the historic health care reforms. In media terms the passing of the healthcare bill has seen a complete turn around for Obama with the president's balanced rating in politcal coveraging jumping nearly 15% in March.
The health care issue has also seen a corresponding halt in the downward trend of Obama's approval ratings and the first signs of returning approval. As the change in media sentiment reaches the public, this upward trend will most likely become more significant.

Who benefits from Islam's return?

Front National's "Non A L'Islamisme" campaign appears to have created a lot of attention with very little effort. Media Tenor's data shows that religion has occupied only 3% of the political agenda in 2010 - raising the question of why such a small volume on this issue can have such a large effect. It also raises the question of how often the Swiss anti-minaret imagery can be recycled and why the European press is so keen to lend support to such strategies.

Basis: 1) 1 331 statements on Islam/religious dialogue/integration of foreigners in TF1 political coverage April 2007- March 2010. 2)1904 statments in TF 1 politcal coverage 2010
